The watercolour studies were developed to create technical frameworks and compositions for the weaves. The grids, drafted by hand, echo the logic of warp and weft, and move through colour to find the structure before it takes form.
These studies extend the practice itself. They are rendered before the weave, to chart what will be held, and after, to trace what has been fixed.
